“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare," Audre Lorde, A Burst of Light and Other Essays.
Black women, this post is for you. We have been on my mind this week, so I was moved to share my thoughts. There‘s been a lot in the media recently pertaining to us, our culture, & our people/community. This is a reminder to protect your energy & practice self-care.
Also, please be mindful of what you take in [on social media]. Literally everything that we consume (good or bad) fuels us. Food, information, energy. It’s easy to over look the damage that comes from social media because we are essentially being forced into a desensitized state.
Practice knowing when enough is enough for a day+. Taking time to step away & care for yourself does not diminish your voice, efforts, or beliefs. It’s ok to unplug, not reply, or not log in. You are seen. Your experiences are valid.
I hope that something from this simple post provided a sprinkle of inspiration and/or a sparkle of light. Stay safe, & take your vitamins
Much love
