1. Hi, everyone!
How are you and your loved ones?
Hope you are coping well and staying safe?
Welcome to this episode of #PastorExplainThis where we provide biblical answers to life's vexing questions. We are delighted to have you with us today.
2. We've been having a great time on this series looking into crowd-sourced questions on topics such as faith, morality, relationships, sex, end-time events, etc.

4. Psalm 119:130 (MSG) "Break open your words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning."

May we all receive light as we study together today, in Jesus' name. Amen!

5. Here's our first question for today: IS MY CAREER MY PURPOSE?
#PastorExplainThis
6. The Bible affirms that there is a divine purpose for every person that predated their existence.
Jeremiah 1:5 (MSG) "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world
#PastorExplainThis
7. Sadly, many go through life without the slightest idea of what their purpose is; although there is something in every human being, whether they acknowledge it or not, that tells them that they are here for a reason, and that yearns to discover that reason.

8. @MerriamWebster defines a career as "a profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as a permanent calling."

Also, "a field for or pursuit of consecutive progressive achievement especially in public, professional, or business life."

#PastorExplainThis
9. People make their career choices based on many factors, including, but not limited to: interests, passion, talents, expediency, perceived lucrativeness, family tradition, society's expectations, exposure, etc.
#PastorExplainThis
10. Ideally, however, the nexus between purpose and career is that your career should be a vehicle of expression for your purpose. It should be one of the ways by which you serve your purpose to the world. But it is not the be-all and end-all of your purpose.
#PastorExplainThis
11. A Believer should see everything he/she does - every platform, every office occupied, every relationship, every responsibility, every interaction, as another vehicle of expression for his/her purpose.
#PastorExplainThis
12. So, your purpose is bigger than your career.
Your career is just one of the many expressions of your purpose, so...

"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1Corinthiaans 10:31 (NKJV)

13. Think of someone whose purpose in life is to bring emotional healing to the broken, who happens to be a college professor. He can use his access to his young students to minister to those who have been abused and broken by life. That's fulfilling purpose!
#PastorExplainThis
14. He can also use his clout and platform to speak out against certain ills in the system and society at large and bring about lasting positive systemic change that will shield vulnerable students from abuse by predatory lecturers. That's fulfilling purpose!

16. Our next question is: SHOULD I TAKE EVERY DREAM I HAVE AS A DIVINE MESSAGE TO ACT ON?
#PastorExplainThis
17. There are diverse ways through which God speaks to people.
One of them is DREAMS. Others include, but are not limited to, visions, prophetic utterances, inner witness, the witness of the Scriptures, etc.
#PastorExplainThis
18. Interestingly, the first person God would ever communicate with via the agency of dreams was an unbelieving king, Abimelech, who got a divine message through his dream in Genesis 20:3, which ended up saving his life.
#PastorExplainThis
19. Some others who also enjoyed this channel of divine communication include:
Jacob (Gen 28:12, 31:10)
Laban (Gen 31:24)
Joseph (Gen 37:5)
Pharaoh (Gen 41:1)
Solomon (1Ki 3:5)
Joseph, Jesus' "earthly father" (Mat 1:20)
