\\1 How do you make a system which works at one scale work at ALL scales?

Physicist Nima Arkani-Hamed says there are two approaches:

1) Conservative Radicalism
2) Radical Conservatism

Both are being currently practiced in #Bitcoin but only one is right!
\\2 Conservative Radicalism (CR) modifies the system in small but radical ways hoping to "fix it."

Radical Conservatism (RC) doesn't change the system; it follows the implications of the system's truths to their most radical conclusions.

RC is the way forward; CR is a trap!
\\3 For Nima, a physicist, CR was radical new ideas (IR modifications, Lorentz violations, massive gravitons) which turned out to be completely wrong.

CR theorists hoped these small, radical changes would "fix" quantum gravity without deeply changing our picture of the universe.
\\4 RC is NOT throwing out the lessons of Einstein, Yang-Mills, &c. but following their implications to a radical new picture of the universe: the dissolution of spacetime itself!

That's why Nima's talk is titled "Don't Modify Gravity, Understand It!"

Getting back to #Bitcoin ...
\\5 Most crypto projects are CR.

They propose a radical change (new block size, Turing completeness, proof of stake, private chains, delegated validators) hoping to "fix" #Bitcoin .

They seek to preserve a simple picture of one blockchain that scales up to the size of the world.
\\6 What's the RC approach?

Taking a cue from Nima, RC means "Don't Modify #Bitcoin , Understand It!"

Scaling #Bitcoin requires understanding its essential truths -- scarcity, markets, auctions, privacy, self-determination -- and pushing these ideas as far as we can take them.
\\7 This leads to a new world: UTXOs as basis for computations, channel factories, public routing & data markets driven by auctions, all operating within Lightning Network(s), settling to the blockchain.

A new Internet, built on a new and better money.

A #Bitcoin world computer.
