We bring awareness by saying #SaveTheRainforests. It doesn't mean we ignore our local forests. It means there is an emergency we have to deal with now. #BlackLivesMater is the same. There is an existential threat on multiple levels, and bringing attention to it is necessary

It's not an affront to anyone else, it's a dire warning bell that there is a fire RIGHT NOW that needs our community to come together and work to fix the problem at hand. I can't do it justice but this #thread does. Read it and understand that it is a multi faceted issue
