Trump is forever doing vile things to distract from the other vile things he does. This is what "flooding the zone with shit" is about, overwhelming us so that we can't react to what he's doing.

Trump encouraging his followers to kill Democrats, and let's be clear that's exactly what he was doing, can't be ignored, even he is doing it in part to distract from the 100,000 dead and 40 million unemployed.

And don't let them gaslight you: What the guy in Trump's video was doing was encouraging followers to kill Democrats. Denials of that is just more gaslighting.

Trump escalated to overtly violent rhetoric because it's becoming clear to him that, to win, he may have to do whatever it takes to keep Democrats from the polls, including encouraging his followers to use violence.

But there is a way to cover Trump's violent rhetoric without ignoring his failures regarding the economy and the coronavirus. One just has to connect the former to the latter, and explain why he's doing this.
