In the last few months, the often invisibilised care-work that WoC do in academia with students & other WoC colleagues has become even more invisibilised. I don't have energy to write more about this (and time too), but I'll just say...
... that while many academics are making videos & writing about all the care work & pedagogical labour they are expending, some of us are doing so much that there is no room to reflect, write, document even. Depts & universities seem to think that students are not okay but okay
But they have no idea what's actually going on. They have no idea how we are taking care of each other and although that's allowing us to get through each day, we are truly exhausted
I know what matters is what is being done - the work of holding each other - but the ways in which this work is even more invisible now (to those that define our material and structural conditions) is a whole new layer of exhaustion. That's all for now, someday we'll write more.
