anyways i'm not religious anymore really but the whole bible story where jesus is all don't let your right hand see what your left hand is doing when it comes to doing good work still hits and i think white ppl should pay more attention to doing their anti racism work like that
i don't think there's anything inherently wrong with being all over social media when the latest innocent black man is killed but these days it rings pretty hollow to me unless ur like a handful of my friends who are pointing their fellow white folx to resources to be better
it just feels exhibitionist and macabre to post pics of the latest innocent black man right before he died with some shitty caption like 'no words. this is america. racism is real and still alive. justice for whoever.' and then u have earned ur good white person points????
there's ppl all over the place who u can pay to learn from to do ur own anti racism work and do u know what???? unless ur trying to garner support for some policy measure or maybe point ppl towards good anti racism resources, u don't have to post about it on social media!!!!
a few that come to mind that i follow to learn from are @ToriGlass and @RachelCargle, @JohnathanPerk, and @NitaMosbyTyler1. follow them to start, read their shit, fucking pay them, and start ur journey of self reflection and dismantling ur own ingrained white supremacy
and maybe sit tf down and stop posting self important insta stories where ur like 'if u have a different skin color than me ur still worthy!!!' that's gross and smacks of colorblindism or whatever the fuck. platitudes like that aren't enough and u don't get a cookie for saying it
also if ur somebody who's legit out there doing activism and equity work and posting about it on social media is how u get more ppl to the cause and to opportunities to learn, this thread isn't about u, u keep doin u boo
but if ur like me and ur just a regular citizen with a job that's not in the activism/social good sphere u need to sit tf down and shut tf up. u need to keep learning from black writers/speakers/activists, donating to them when you can, and practicing anti racism
