A lot of people are saying a lot of things about current events that I don't need to add to. Listen to them. But yelling on Twitter only gets you so much. Real activism happens in the real world, and it is not a single moment of outrage, it is work that you do every day.
It means sticking your neck out at your company to change biased hiring practices, shopping at black businesses, filming cops who harass and harm black citizens. Making room for black voices and leadership, giving money to black NGO's, giving a damn about local politics.
If you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk. That means sacrifices, impositions, risk. Don't leave all the risk to the protesters in the street, who are there as a last, desperate recourse. If we've reached that point, it's because our collective everyday activism is not enough.
