Pantanal - Brazil. What an amazing place. I last went there a few years ago and have not even seen most of the pics I took. Here are a few.
Amazing vistas when it's not raining and crazy amount of insects. You get bitten like crazy.
I mean where else would you come across an Anaconda while getting to your room
A Capybara - biggest rodents in the world on a river full of Caiman, Catfish and Piranha amongst others
Amazing birdlife. I am not really much of a bird photographer. I prefer to watch them but these Black Skimmers at sunset would have been a pretty stupid photo opportunity to miss.
Since we are on birds - I loved this juvenile Kite, I think Snail Kite 🤔
I primarily went there for the Jaguar, a cat that looks like a leopard but is double its size, if not more. Big male Jags can be nearly as big as small tigress
And boy did we get a lot of Jaguars to photograph. Unfortunately the best action I got was by a badly damaged (recovered) and nearly starving cat, that we first thought was dead. She got this Caiman.
There are tigers there too - this juvenile Tiger Heron
These are my mates in their boats while we were spending time with Skimmers
The animal that terrified the best local guides were - the Indian Buffalo. They were imported by some big ranches that later went broke. So the ranchers released the buffaloes which went wildly feral over the years. Big and very aggressive herds - stay away
