Lots of criticism of @HSELive for non resumption of screening. Mostly from those not involved in services. Screening is not one test. It requires a network of providers medical & no medical. #screening

Abnormal smears need processing in labs( remember absolute certainty ). Lab colleagues need to have capacity there & have social distancing. #covid #screening

Women abnormal smears get colposcopy referral. Clinics not up to full capacity because #socialdistancing & deployment to areas like icu because of - yes #COvid

Some women will need inpatient treatment for #lletz or #hysterectomy . These rely on elective surgery up and running safely. #covid #screening

You can’t do a little bit of screening. It will resume when safe & reasonable to do so. In the meantime we will work on reducing theatre waiting lists , seeing symptomatic women. This will benefit all women. #covid #screening

Oh anc no screening can take place without dedicated admin professionals. Some of whom would have been required for contact tracing / other roles in the pandemic. #covid #screening
