Im careful how I talk a/b violence &what it means- b/c i think the way we talk about it often puts an inherent value judgement on it. And we know who often has the power to define what violence is, and how it should be used. The State has a monopoly on violence. Lets start there
Violence is being suffocated for 5 minutes. Violence is tear gas being thrown at protestors & shooting rubber bullets. Violence is expecting working people to sustain through a pandemic on a one time $1200 check. Poverty is violence. The way protestors are responding to it,
whether you wanna define it as violence or not, is a response to violence. Its self-defense, and it is resistance. All of it. From marching downtown, to throwing a brick through a cop car. All power to the protestors in Minneapolis. Im in full support.
