Growing up in the 80's I got in a lot of fights defending my mother because she was gay. I remember after each fight feeling horrible I had to hurt someone to show them it is not fair to treat people horribly for who they are. I cried after fights.
I thought people should be treated equally no matter their race, gender, religion, sexual preference I also thought I wouldn't have to see this shit as a grown up. As a white male I no longer have to get blood on my knuckles because I have it easy,
But in 2020, women still need to fear men just because they are women. People of color still need fear for their life because of their skin color. Gay people still need to protect themself in fear of being themselves. White men still think it's not a problem.
As a kid growing up with 2 mothers I am privileged to have the best parents in the world, but there are still kids getting blood on their knuckles just to be treated equally.
