1/4: The police are not a weapon to be used on people of colour. While in Louisiana last year, it happened to us. After a minor accident (no damage) in which the white couple ahead of us was at fault, they called the police on us, lied about what happened and faked an injury.
2/4: We simply got out of the vehicle to assess the damage and exchange insurance and the entire situation spiralled out of control. This was CLEARLY racially motivated. I’ve been in a handful of minor accidents where we shared license and registration and kept it moving. NEVER
3/4: has anything like this happened before. I was bewildered, then furious, then scared. I told my husband and sister in law to stay in the car. I’ve seen enough videos of unarmed black men being shot by police. When they arrived, the police were great. We had no issues and the
4/4: I’m sure they found the situation ridiculous. But I was scared. My family was scared. Every time I see a video of an unarmed black man #GeorgeFloyd killed by police I think of my husband. When I see people like #AmyCooper lying to police I think of that couple. It must stop!
