Data doesn't give the full picture, they say. It provides a major chunk of the story they never said. Taking cue from Sachin vs Dravid debate that took place on twitter. I tried to put the whole story via analytics. Pls read the thread.

On 15 Nov 1989, world saw the 16 year old young batsmen debut and it took many by surprise that a young lad played more maturely than most of his team mates. Sachin topped all charts (avg 52.15, A 45, H 67) till 20 Jun 1996 when another legend stepped in. 2/n

Dravid took no time in understanding his role as a test batsmen. While Sachin topped the list, Dravid was no freebie. Sachin now had two guys The Prince and the wall shielding him. Dravid, however, was walking hand in hand with Sachin outside Ind. 3n

Ind following on and tottering, the wall was demoted to bat at 5 citing poor form. VVS needed support. Dravid provides one by scoring 187. The match changed his career and thereby, enjoys his best time as a batsmen till 24 Sep 2007. 4/n

India won the T20 WC and with that Dravid decided to step down as a capt from all formats. In this period, barring SA, he was just indispensable outside India. In India, Sehwag did the rest. Post 2007, Well let say, Master knew how to roar back.

Sachin's greatness or say godliness was his longetivity. He enjoyed at the top for 3 long periods that was seperated by brilliant defiance of Dravid. Ind were lucky to have them firing all cylinders together for 16 years and then Dravid called it a day. 5/n
There should not be any debate about who is the best. It is not a kid's play to avg 50 above outside India for a year, these two have done it for a decade or two approx. Respect them and save them from "who was the greatest bullshit'.
