When I was homeless we had to be out of the shelter for a certain amount of time every day and I used to go to the library. I'd stand outside waiting for it to open and the cops nearby always made a show of harassing me and the other homeless people.

I had a cop snatch my backpack once and search it but all he found was school supplies. They would also frequently use racial slurs and they didn't care who heard them.

When they aren't harassing homeless people or being racist they often don't bother to do their jobs. Every time I walk past the police station I see people speeding and the cops dont care.

My mayor was chief of police and he always makes a big show talking about how proud he is of the police in town but the police here are awful to everyone. One of the reasons I ran for mayor was to try and raise awareness about this.

My city is majority-minority and I've seen maybe one black cop and a few Hispanic cops. That's it. The police force is mostly white men who live in much better communities than the one they are supposed to protect and serve.

I dont really know why im making this thread. I guess I just want to tell my experience with the police
