More voices are demanding teachers do more live teaching.

Some basic Q’s we must answer 1st:

-With more live sessions what happens to students who are supervising younger siblings/ in noisy or crowded spaces or don’t have reliable internet & cant participate? Do they fail?
Major Q: in a live session, who is liable if a child gets hurt or does something dangerous? Many of our students are home alone during the day. Are teachers going to be held responsible when this happens?
What do teachers who are caregivers to young children or elderly relatives do when something comes up? What about staff w/ out reliable internet or quiet spaces to work?
What happens when a student or parent takes video from a meeting and shares it on social media? How are kids and staff protected from this?
Why is whole class live video chatting better than calling students & families individually on the phone, small group meetings, writing letters? Parents like it. But how do kids feel about it?
Is @NYCSchools surveying teachers about their remote learning and live teaching experiences? Bc until they do that they shouldn’t mandate a certain # of hours. Most of us are doing it & have lots to share.
And, are @Google Meets and @zoom_us appropriate platforms to protect student and teacher privacy and information? #remotelearning
What about Internet connectivity issues during live chats? Many educators were reporting just this week problems with @Google Meets. What if a student misses key points over live video chats that they wouldn't have with asynchronous learning?
And, if students are already fatigued with #remotelearning, how can we expect them to show up for live teaching when they're currently not showing up? https://twitter.com/classdisrupti0n/status/1266044379711635464?s=20
Will educators be compensated for the new technology and Internet fees they've had to rack up in order to transition to #remotelearning within a WEEK? Other industries are sending workers laptops and tech and reimbursing for internet, but not to educators. https://twitter.com/scabellumpedum/status/1266048390426619906?s=20
