I know this is the trendy thing to say, but that doesn't make it right. Structural racism will not be addressed by asking other oppressed minorities to assume the burden of responsibility for a system that exploits and brutalises us ALL. https://twitter.com/thebrownhijabi/status/1265923940045766657
Prejudice within S.A. communities is absolutely real, but the way to tackle this is not through individualised calls for us to simply 'unlearn' things which are deeply structured through caste, class & capitalism, but to engage in collective efforts of solidarity and resistance.
This also means we need serious structural analysis from which to articulate strategy/demands, and not this endless navel gazing obsession with individual actions & culpability, which diverts from the institutions and groups that wield actual material power over all of us.
POCs doing this is no better than white people who are, encouraged to 'examine their own privilege', but actually come no closer to the forms of understanding the struggle we need in order to tear down racism.
