White liberalism has created a cottage industry around black trauma that benefits more from letting systemic racism happen and commodifying the reaction to it than it does from actually doing anything to stop it.
The tell is in how the same white people who carelessly share videos of black people being murdered to "raise awareness" turn around and use the same voice, same platform, and same energy to defend the police doing the murdering.
The tell is in how the same white people who say they& #39;re upset to see a white woman weaponize her whiteness against a black man asking her to leash her dog turn around and defend her from facing any consequences for it.
The tell is in how the same white people who champion black women as leaders who should be followed turn around continue to support and platform Shaun King when enumerable black women have asked you to stop.
The tell is in how white people can say the right things but do none of them and feel good about it.
Whiteness is a pandemic, and white liberalism is a mask we wear that only lets through white feelings, white guilt, and white tears while filtering out any action, results, or justice for black people.
If you say you can& #39;t do anything, you& #39;re wrong. Listen to black people. Center black voices. Center black ideas. Center black thought. Center black action. Center black lives. Start there. You& #39;ll find something you can do or at least put your money into.
If you don& #39;t have money, you have whiteness. You have white privilege; use it to amplify, use it to support, use it to protect. You have white proximity; use it to confront your white friends and white family. Use what you have and actually do something.
