Feb. 1971, winter in Wakhan corridor. A camel caravan travels through this 5000m high narrow strip of #Afghanistan extending to China. Among the nomads,the 🇫🇷 #photographers Sabrina & Roland #Michaud. It took them 3y to get a green light from the 🇦🇫King. Sabrina is the only woman.

It was neither the Michauds' 1st nor their last trip to Afghanistan. Together, they spent 60 years photographing the world. They notably focused on Islamic civilizations as well as India and China. 🇦🇫 made them famous - and they made the beauty of this country known to the world.
Roland Michaud once defined #Afghanistan as "a country capable of satisfying our thirst for beauty and our dream of absolute". Their first book on this overwhelming country was published in 1969.
Sabrina & Roland Michaud's pictures moved the souls throughout the world by showing mankind's sufferings and joys and the breathtaking beauty of nature.
Roland Michaud passed away last Monday, aged 89.
