obviously there’s a lot of people condemning the looters that come from a bad place but some ppl are against it bc they are anti-violence. this thread will be my attempt to reach out to those people + explain revolution, rioting, and looting from a communist perspective

i understand not liking violence

i hate violence. it scares + overwhelmes me. i don’t like ppl being hurt. but the police are violent and we can’t keep bringing knives to a gun fight. the only way change will actually happen is by violent forms of protest.

a common misconception is that communists love revolution. that is not exactly true. a revolution will only come when material conditions are so bad that the proletariat rebel against the bourgeoisie. no communist wants the working class to suffer but capitalism’s own design +

has made it inevitable. revolution is not where communism ends. revolution is not our goal. revolution is not why we are communists. it is necessary to create a communist society and we can’t avoid that step.

i’ll probably add to this thread as i have more thoughts but that’s it for now
