Ok, so back to this... I have some words. https://twitter.com/FrankDenbow/status/1265606138952908801">https://twitter.com/FrankDenb...
There& #39;s a whole thread on the @Zebras_Unite timeline you can read from when @eringriffith& #39;s NYT article came out.

Watch it for more context, because I don& #39;t have time to break down all the reasons why this man is blowing smoke up our asses in the video: https://twitter.com/i/events/1084841801595314176">https://twitter.com/i/events/...
I& #39;ve said this before and I& #39;ll say it again.

I’m not anti-VC. I’m pro-revenue.
If you work in startup-land long enough, you& #39;ll find that revenues and profits are too often optional.

Scale ≠ Profits.

The shift to “these companies actually have to make money” is somewhat since a number of Hindenburg Unicorns hit the market (or attempted to) in 2019.
Is there a place for vc? Absolutely. I’ve consistently said this, too.

What’s really effed up is how we’ve forced startup founders into a shitty binary of funding options: VC or Bootstrap. Y& #39;all, people are broke.
So you have people doing some Cirque du Soleil act trying to make themselves + their business model a fit to get venture backing, or we have people trying to squeeze blood from a stone.

This is a ridiculously addressable issue that& #39;s holding us all back from a better future.
YES, @jason, you’ve built the perfect machine.

It& #39;s functioning just like you want it to: privileged white men get to take hoards of money and gamble it without consequence to make themselves (and other rich people) richer at the expense of everyone else.

Congratulations.
Many, many VCs have said that most founders aren’t a fit for venture capital, yet we keep putting it on a pedestal as some perfect archetype for entrepreneur funding.

Fuck that. We need less hypeline, more pipeline.
We know there& #39;s a .0006% chance of building a billion dollar business. We know that most VCs don& #39;t actually make the promised returns to their LPs... because outliers, right?

With the massive problems we& #39;re experiencing today, why leave solutions to the fate of "outlier" wins?
This is why groups like @Zebras_Unite, @bbfounders, @indievc, @inflectioncomm, and so many more are trying to help people innovate while building REAL businesses.

I’ll say it again. I’m not anti-VC, I’m pro-revenue.
So, to anyone who wants to DIMINISH the work of people trying lift up the collective good and fight inequality...

Fuck you very much, and the status quo horse you rode in on.

Opportunity should not be limited by someone’s circumstance or social club.
Let me wrap this up.

Both unicorns and zebras (and gazelles, camels, whatever you want to call it) can co-exist. But let& #39;s not perpetuate the harmful ideas that the ones with the most money are the same ones helping society progress in the right direction.
