Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been appointed as #Iran’s new parliament speaker. He is known for publicly boasting about personally beating protesters during the 1999 student uprising.

2)
In his own words, Ghalibaf explains his role in the regime’s history of crackdown against dissent.
3)
Ghalibaf had very close relations with Qassem Soleimani.

As a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), Ghalibaf was a commander during the 1980s Iran-Iraq war & known to order children onto minefields.
4)
Ghalibaf is also financially corrupt.

Zahra Sadr-azam Nouri, member of Tehran City Council back in 2018:
"[Former Tehran mayor] Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf (L) left the municipality with a debt of around $12 billion & we can’t repay."
5)
Remember Mohsen Dehnavi, the Iranian "doctor" / "Harvard researcher" banned from entering the U.S. in 2017? He is now an MP & a member of the parliament presidium.

Reminder:
@JohnKerry & chief Tehran lobbyist @tparsi had defended Dehnavi.

Ghalibaf joins the club. Image—Iran’s 2013 presidential race

L-Rouhani is now president, with over 3,800 executions
C-Ghalibaf is now parliament speaker, with his dark past
R-Raisi is now head of judiciary, presided over Iran’s 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners

As always, MSM plays a role in whitewashing the criminal past of senior Iranian regime officials.

The title used by @Reuters& #39; @PHREUTERS back in February portrays a very positive image of Ghalibaf.

Reminder:
-2007 doc, mentioning @PHREUTERS, shows how the @Reuters team needs approval from #Iran& #39;s Intelligence Ministry to visit the city of Qom.

-All foreign media reports in Iran must abide by Intel Ministry guidelines.

-Shame on @ReutersIran for falling to such lows.

"Many remember Qalibaf for his support as an IRGC general for a violent crackdown on Iranian university students in 1999. He also reportedly ordered live gunfire be used against Iranian students in 2003 while serving as the country’s police chief." https://apnews.com/cdcd7d6789a2960474fbd760ca226a2d">https://apnews.com/cdcd7d678...

My take:
Khamenei is gearing his regime for further domestic crackdown & warmongering abroad, especially as crises inside the country are escalating & the population is growing all the more restive with each passing day.
