Hi there - @joekennedy's scheduler here. I wanted to share some thoughts, notes, and memories from the campaign trail. 1/
I have worked in politics for the last 10 years - and the theme on this campaign that really sticks out is that Joe shows up. Time after time in community after community, Joe has made it a priority to be there for the people of Massachusetts. 2/
This one is from the Soldier's Home.
in Holyoke that has seen over 70 tragic deaths from Coronavirus. Joe has been on the phone constantly (and has blown up my schedule almost daily) to make sure people on the front lines of this crisis have access to the supplies they need. 3/
Joe has made talking directly to people one of the biggest points of emphasis on this campaign. Campaigns are about voters, like those pictured here at our Barnstable Town Hall. Joe has spent this entire race engaging with them. /4
All over the state, people have been SHOCKED to see him - they aren't used to seeing elected officials like @DianaDiZoglio and @joekennedy come to talk to them, hear about the challenges they are facing, and earn their vote. /5
We go out pretty much anywhere - and meet with all kinds of people - including the choir that sang at the Worcester Inauguration this year! 6/
The campaign is long and sometimes you have to make it happen when you aren't at your best. Staffing Joe with a black eye I got in Jiu-Jitsu class earned me some curious stares. It also inspired Sean from @Teamsters25 to remark, "You're supposed to duck, knucklehead". /7
At some events, you get handed interesting stuff - like this hand painted oar we got from the Mayor of Gloucester to commemorate how fisherman in communities like Gloucester feed our families and keep our economy going. /8
You always have to deal with the unexpected - like the time Ali, Brian, and I had to change a flat at our New Bedford Meet and Greet. /9
You get to work with an incredible team though, as evidenced by these sweet candid shots I found in my camera role /10
Coronavirus has forced us to take most of our campaign virtual, but every day our mission remains the same: connect with people across the Commonwealth who aren't used to hearing directly from their Senator. /11
People always ask if the long hours are worth it, and the detractors want to pick you apart at every turn. To them, I say spend a little bit of time with Joe on the trail. Watch him talk to people who have never been listened to before about the issues that matter to them. /12
That's why I'm in this fight. It's time for Massachusetts to know it's Senator again. /13
