Reproducing Article 19 here. Listing layman ways in which these have been ignored in the Pandemic. 1/n
"(1) All citizens shall have the right

(a) to freedom of speech and expression;"

Surprisingly least affected due to the pandemic in comparison to the usual threats that continue, ie things were bad enough, the pandemic couldn't do worse. Let's move to the next.
(b) to assemble peaceably and without arms;

LOL
(c) to form associations or unions;

With 144 and night curfews, conferences and gatherings banned, religious and cultural activities nil - seriously disabled + govts removing labour laws large-scale (yet to be seen how they affect mobilisation).
"(d) to move freely throughout the territory of India;

(e) to reside and settle in any part of the territory of India;"

These are the ones that worry me the most. What was temporary is now becoming long term and complicated. 19 (d) and (e) have been most damaged by pandemic.
"(f) omitted"

Doesnt exist anymore (was amended out) but as i have tweeted in the past - bring back the right to property.
"(g) to practise any profession, or to carry on any occupation, trade or business"

Lack of courts stepping in and protecting businesses in the pandemic has had huge costs. Court should have acted as a check on expansive powers exercised during lockdown.
Lifting of the lockdown means reverting freedoms back to where they were as quickly and meaningfully as possible. Actions of state and centre don't inspire confidence. HCs have been doing a decent job but recent record of SC DISMAL, threatens to undo their little good work.
Some of the suspended freedoms above, the longer they are affected the more the impact on economy, society and politics. It's like living with a disease eating you from inside, you can live with it for a while but if it doesnt kill you, it may cause long term damage.
In this thread, i havent even got into Article 14 (equality/reasonable differentia) and 21 (life) which on their own and along with 19 (FRs above) protect citizens from bad laws & bad govt decisions, of which we have had plenty in this pandemic. /END
