Y’all I’m so fucking tired of watching black people of color being verbally assaulted, physically assaulted, tortured, and murdered.
I’ve seen so many videos that they don’t phase me anymore. But Tye Anders laying on the ground, his grandmother standing over him and yelling “leave that baby alone” after being knocked down by police... that one got me.
Think about how engrained masculinity is and the expectation that black people are some how immune to pain. And then listen to that man on the ground screaming and crying I’m scared.
Literally terrified on the groun. Do everything he can not to be threating. He either made sure he made his hands clearly visible or put them behind his back to cuffed
That’s really what gets me. You hear in the body cam video the cop saying he won’t comply. The charge is resisting arrest. He laid down and completely submit. He didn’t know what he’d done to be pulled but he made sure he did not resist
When you walk outside...scratch that. When you exist in a black body there is literally no way to protect yourself, no way to stay safe. You’re not safe at home, you’re not safe when you’re being non-confrontational, and your 90 year grandma isn’t safe either
And on top of all of that the only way to get justice is for people nationally to make it known. Until you become a hashtag, until people are screaming the names, no one is held accountable.
And instead almost 10 police officers show up for a traffic stop where the person is terrified to do anything wrong
The boy laid down ready to be cuffed. How much more fucking compliant can he bed? He never moved like he had a weapon so I don’t understand how the guns came out. He tried to do everything right so he wouldn’t be shot or choked to death
