here’s some info i gathered about the harassment that’s planned for pride month and some tips on what to when something happens. i’ll be adding to this as the time goes on. / a thread

tip 1) when you tweet something, you can immediately mute the tweet so you don’t get notifications from it. you only see the replies on it from people you follow on your timeline. this way you protect yourself from tweets/replies you don’t want to see.
tip 2) if muting an entire tweet or thread is too extreme for you, try turning on a quality filter in your notification settings. this way replies and tweets from people who don’t follow you, you don’t follow them, etc. won’t show up in your notifications.
tip 3) if you get a reply that seems suspicious or is harassment: report the tweet, block the account and hide the tweet from the replies. specifically in that order.
tip 4) do not click on links unless you are absolutely 100% certain what it’s for! people can figure out information about you without your consent through links. see tip 5 for information on how to protect yourself and what to do if something happens.

tip 6) don’t interact with people you don’t know! you might give the harassers attention which is exactly what they want. do not start a discussion with them.
tip 7) there are some people who are writing down ‘Winx’ in their bio to let people know they’re lgbtq+ without stating it explicitly. by doing this you are less likely to be harassed, but not completely protected. https://twitter.com/lebordeldemavie/status/1265882939247800320">https://twitter.com/lebordeld...
