a short read that helps understand institutionalised racism. goes from the atlantic slave trade to the beginning of the windrush scandal. helps grasp how the uk is NOT INNOCENT.
the hate u give -
the book is better but the film has casting that makes it easier for teens to watch and enjoy. about a girl who witnesses her bestfriend being shot by police. extremely relevant to whats going on today.
fruitvale station-
based on a true story of what happened to oscar grant. the most frustrating / heartbreaking film ive ever watched. shows how the system fails black men continuously
when they see us -
netflix docuseries on the central park five. shows the brutality & the judicial side of injustice
dear white people-
netflix series. more on ignorance and stereotypes than direct racism. shows racism within the college sector in america
13th-
incredible documentary on netflix that focuses on the disproportionately in american prisons and how the end of 'slavery' in america wasnt truly the end. its a MUST watch.
american son -
was also in theatres shortly. if u want to be in the shoes of a black mother who has heard that her son has been in an incident with the police this is it. its a one take film showing how frustrating the police is and how disrespected black women are.
