So I try my best to always avoid political or controversial topics on here because it only leads to people being mad.

Today I am going to break that rule and post some thoughts on the George Floyd murder and societal issues in a thread.

I hope you will read this...

1/

I am a middle age, middle income, white, conservative, fat, and balding Man. I am the leader of my local Mormon church.

I cant begin to understand the pain and struggle of the African American community.

What I can show is empathy. What I can show is solidarity.

2/

You need to understand though that some of my family and closest friends are also Police Officers.

Each and every one of them are outraged every time one of their "brothers in blue" do harm to the profession they love.

3/

You see they do a job that is based in greatness. It is a selfless job where others safety and concerns are put ahead of their own. They do this for little financial reward.

They spend all day dealing with terrible situations and sometimes terrible people.

4/

I can only imagine in time its hard to tell who are the terrible people and who are the people who need help.

This is how Satan works he makes it hard to recognize his work.

5/

There are hundreds of thousands of police officers in this country. Like any group of people you have your good and your bad. You have the majority in the middle trying to find their way to one way or the other.

I implore these officers to find their way to the good.

Now to my African American Brothers and Sisters. I hope you made it through my diatribe about the police to hear my words.

You are all children of God. You are all my Brothers and SIsters. We are not different. I am not better than you.

I pray every day that this world gives you the same opportunities that is has given me. A path yo happiness and safety and security.

The true American Dream.

It is attainable. It is within reach. I refuse to leave you alone as you strive for what I have.

I pray for you all everyday. I pray for the police everyday.

I need you to know though I am literally the whitest of white dudes and the media will have you believe I am your enemy. I dont hate you. I want you to succeed. I want you to feel what I feel.

George Floyd was murdered. Do I believe those police officers meant to kill George? I dont. Did their actions lead to his death? Absolutely. They must be held accountable. He must receive justice. The African American community deserves justice.

I refuse to accept that we must hate each other. We must find common ground. We must be able to communicate. We must be able to stand together as Whites, Blacks, Browns, Yellows, and yes Blue.

11/

Only if we all stand together for change in how we view and treat each other can we get better. There is enough blame to go around. No one is innocent in how we got here. No one group is to blame either.

12/

So I implore everyone who reads this to spend every day doing good in this world. Wake up and place your mark on society to make someone elses life better. We have to try harder, do better, and Be Better.

I love you and care about you. Yes you.
