Woke up thinking how much Black genius is lost to worrying about, fighting, and explaining racism.

I have long wondered why white creators can just think up epic stories about dragons and magic and when we do it it's revolutionary.

To be Black and imaginative is a true feat.
Black creators make "Black" oriented art (works that are culturally relevant to us and represent us) because we haven't seen ourselves in works, because we don't want to be misrepresented, and just incase we are not alive to tell the next generation about our Black lives.
We are not afforded the luxury of seeing ourselves in Space and if we do it is to fight some entity against some oppressive force. We don't get to be mundane or sip a coffee with a wizard on a Tuesday.

All our energy is usually directed towards making you see our humanity.
This is why @OpenWorldPod has been important to me and why I'm working so hard to see it through.

We have stories of concern for humanity, stories of the mundane, of people taking care of each other from all walks of life.

Where the act of being you is extraordinary.
Dear Black creators:

We are not broken. I am often sad that I can't "imagine" bigger and more magically. We are conditioned to think about the immediate needs of safety and sanity and our stories reflect that.

Remember that, so we can be more gentle with our creative selves.
In a weeks time in any era- Black people are killed or maimed by law enforcement over life's minutiae.

We are reactinh to a barrage of negative media and messaging about us.

Neighbors see us as threats.

We generally don't have the time to write about futures, magic, & fun.
