/17 There has long been a desire by big government statist types to find a way to track all of the activities of everyone. Their goal has long been to know exactly what we spend, what we do and, of course, where we go. @SidneyPowell1 @politicalwilli @MaritaBeans
/17 Up until a decade or so ago the technology simply didn't exist to effectively manage a surveillance state like that (although the Soviets tried) but with the ubiquitous presence of smart phones
/17 and the growing ability of big data companies to analyze massive amounts of data it is now quite possible (See China and N.K.).

This is about more than Covid-19.
/17 As far as Covid-19 is concerned, this is almost over. The numbers are dropping and there are a lot of medical developments happening. For example, Fuji has announced that they have developed an antiviral drug - Avigan - that treats Covid-19,
/17 AstraZeneca has announced that they will start distributing 100's of millions of doses of vaccines in September- there are numerous other companies making medical announcements almost daily. Besides, Covid-19 is everywhere so why start a $100B a year contact tracing program
/17 now that will likely take many months to ramp up? Let us review how we got here. This all started as a voluntary effort to "flatten the curve" which we all generally embraced. The initial goal was never to stop the virus. The medical people said that was impossible.
/17 The original goal was to keep Covid-19 from overwhelming our hospitals by spreading the impact of potentially millions of deaths, we were absolutely going to see, out over several months. Thankfully we haven't had millions of deaths-
/17 (Either they lied or they were just flat wrong) and we achieved the objective to flattened the curve about two months ago. So, what is really going on at this point?
/17 For the typical statist, (left or right) the idea of knowing where everyone is and exactly what they are doing at all times is a dream come true. They imagine great potential to "deal with" tax evaders, criminals etc. and, of course, anyone who doesn't follow their rules.
/17 The challenge to achieving their utopian ideas has always been, in their minds, that they simply did not have enough control to impose their better vision for the world. We have seen this desire play out over and over again in every society that has chosen - or had imposed
/17 upon it - a statist ideology. Contact tracing is about establishing long term control by statists and hastening the end of individualism, not the short term medical issue of Covid-19. Yes, Covid-19 is a serious disease,
/17 but more deadly is the excuse it has provided the statists, so endemic in politics on all sides, to seize a level of control never imagined - for our own good of course.
/17 Unfortunately, we have all too long ignored the systematic erosion of and challenges to our individual liberties, so pushing this back may unfortunately no longer be possible at the city, or even state level.
/17 It is one of the main reasons that I believe this next U.S. election is for all the marbles.
/17 During this Covid-19 event, our political leaders across the country have passed very few laws. Instead, they boldly crossed a line that many of us have naïvely believed could never be crossed in "The Land of the Free".
/17 Our political leaders have often simply chosen to issue broad dictatorial edicts, assign them the force of law, and we have meekly complied.
/17 Now, we have even seen some areas of America morph into oppressive police states with threats of fines and prison for non-compliance with governmental edicts.

Bottom line, the desire to implement contact tracing isn't about Covid-19. Never was.End/
