White people can protest (with guns!) over perceived threats to their freedom, because freedom is yet another possession whites assume a sole right to.

When black people protest, they are assuming they also have a right to something that white people believe is “theirs alone”
Hence the reaction to black protests. To whites it isn’t a protest - it’s a challenge to property, to the authority that gives them sole rights to that property.

That’s why we’re more upset about a burning building than a dead black man.

We care only about what we own.
Abolition told us that we can no longer (legally) own black bodies. So we insist that we own everything else - including liberty, opportunity and the right to life itself.

I think that when black people protest they are perceived as breaking in and stealing what is “ours.”
