I tend to avoid using "we" when talking about the black community but those of you who know me know that I am Puerto Rican and Afro-Bahamian. Those of you who know me also know that I do not pass as Afro-Bahamian... like, *at all*.

Whilst I am proud of my heritage & culture, & empathize deeply with issues that affect my family/extended family, I just don& #39;t think it& #39;s fair for me to speak as part of the community when I& #39;ve never once been subject to the issues surrounding them. I recognize my privilege.
