If you carry a badge and gun in the name of law enforcement, I want you to look at both items and ask yourselves the following questions :

Why do I do this?
Is it to protect and serve my community and my fellow citizens?
Am I prepared to do the right thing even when my comrades are doing the wrong thing? Do I have the courage to uphold the law when the lawbreakers are my colleagues?

Is my first instinct to de-escalate and/or use my reason and training to preserve, protect, and defend innocents?
To whom to I owe my primary loyalty? Those I'm sworn to protect, or my colleagues and superiors?

Am I accountable for my actions, my words, and my thinking?

Am I physically, mentally, spiritually and morally up to the task of policing?
And, perhaps the single, most serious question.

When I carry out my duties, am I upholding, preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution in a manner consistent with my oath?
Look at your gun and badge again.

If you cannot answer the questions posed above in a positive way, I urge you to consider either improving yourself, or finding another line of work.

One that does not put you, or your fellow citizens, at risk of death or injury at your hands.
