SO in the very first episode, sergeant jeffords, dude who seems to have his heart in the right place, kinda guy we meant to imagine when thinking good cop, shows us how stupid it is to give someone a gun and say if you have any reason to think they’re bad, shoot them.
few minutes later we learn that a white man and white-passing latina have a bet to see who bags more arrests that year that's resulted in them arresting a lot more people.
can we pretend this extra motivation allowing them to solve more cases w utmost due diligence? no. its look people are just numbers to me and ima find the first person that matches a couple likely coincidental hints and arrest them so i can go on an 8th grade date w my colleague
