@paulsesther has me blocked but if she would listen to what I have to say it would be this.

I have a SoBi membership and I own two bikes. The former enables me to make trips I can't make with the latter. 1/ https://twitter.com/JoeyColeman/status/1265867119612362752
I live in @OurBeasley, work at @STJOESHAMILTON Charlton, have frequent meetings (outside the pandemic) at the other hospital sites, and have kids who go to school near Gage Park. 2/
With @SoBiHamilton, I can take @hsr to the Juravinski and use @WentworthStairs and bike share to get home or back to St Joe's 3/
With @SoBiHamilton, I can bike to work and then to my kids' school and then bring them home on @hsr. 4/
With @SoBiHamilton, I can bike to McMaster for an evening meeting and take @hsr home rather than cycling after dark. 5/
With @SoBiHamilton, I can take @hsr from MacNab to West 5th, walk down the stairs to my office at Charlton, and bike home at the end of the day. 6/
These are my most frequent multimodal trips that are uniquely enabled by bike share. There are lots of others that come up from time to time. 7/
(For many people who commute to Toronto, bike share eliminates the hassle of departing from one GO station and returning to the other.) 8/
Councillors have a duty to be informed before they vote. "SoBi users own their own bikes" reflects a profound lack of understanding of what this system is actually about. You owe it to us to do better than this. 9/9
(Imagine if someone made the argument "taxi users mostly own their own cars so we don't need to have taxis") 10/9
