wait i wanna speak about malta now because i worked closely with the migrants here, especially black migrants who come in by boat and their treatment in malta is horrible
okay so, malta is a small island im thye Mediterranean sea and part of the EU and for the oast 3-4 years it has been on the front line of the migration crisis in europe
malta is really close to Libya, in which most irregular migrants leave and come to europe through boat, most of these migraints being sub-saharan african, west african, sudanese, east african and so on
first of all any boat that comes here, they are seperated into single men (and women) and families. men are placed in whats known as Hal Safi Barracks, which was a military base turned detention centre. there are around 1000 (or more) predominantly black men in there
i have been there around 3 times in my life and it was horrible, there are warehouses woth 300+ people, its overcrowded, they arent allowed to leave at all, the guards are racist and horrible
under MALTESE LAW u are not supposed to be detained for longer than 90 days. people in Hal safi have been there for 6+ months illegally. and no matter how many times people riot and ask for freedom the media here labels them are violent men for asking for basic rights and freedom
now this shitshow of a centre: Initial Reception Centre or IRC in Marsa. i worked here a lot, especially with a “doctor” (whi hated this btw he used to prescribe panadols for everyone). i think this centre had around 500 people, a lot of black families from-
from sudan and nigeria, as well as syrian and libyan families. they werent allowed to leave until issued a paper which gives them the freedom to leave snd enter as they wish
again, the treatment of the staff towards the residents was disgusting, people lived in the warehouse, gym and a big fucking tent outside in december, there were communal bathrooms, sometimes the residents were allowed to even leave their designated area (if ure on lvl 2 u stay-
there forever etc). it was so so bad especially considering the children living there, who btw never went to school. and this is not including the state of the beds, the rooms that held 14 ppl, the horrible SMELL of the area. it was horrible
and now hal far tent village, or HTV as they call it. literal containers. 8 people in a room. first of all this place is in the edge of the island it takes an hour to come to the centre of the island with buses comming every 30 mins
2. the communal bathroom. there are maybe 1200 ppl in here and they all share one big communal bathroom/shower area thing. i think this place is ome of the worst bc of the absolute filth in it and nobody rlly cares to make it liveable for the migrants living here
theres no kitchen no sink no stoves bc ttey “provide meals” but ive seen the meals they dint even put salt or pepper in the meals 😭 they give them a 130€ per diem a month and expect them to live off it
wait pause will i get sued by the government for this ,,,,,,
anyways thisnis public info so. the ppl in these centres always riot (kings and queens absolute legends) i think they burnt down halsafi halfar and irc and every time they always round up a bunch of@ppl, take them to court the same DAY and throw them in jail
i wont say what i was told abt their experiences, i translated to dozen ppl abt their experience in this and due to safety, legal and confidentiality reasons i wont say the specifics but it was horrible for them ofc
theres more but its all confidential stuff i legally cannot say however malta is shit they promote a state of ignorance and hatred towards black people who literally upkeep the community here
one of the things that happened recently, keeping a boat full of migrants, including children and pregnant women, in the sea for 3-4 days. coordinating to send them back to libya (completely illegal btw)
again, coordinating plans to push back migrant boats which a complete violation of international law and a violation of human rights
about a year ago, 2 military men shot dead a black man from ivory coast and injured 2 migrants in the area they live in.
more about the Ivorian man, Lassana Cisse. all of this is of course excluding the pure IGNORANCE and hatred of maltese people in migrant-related posts. its truly disgusting and horrible how much this country hates black people and migrants in general
anwyas so end of thread. black lives matter. i hate malta and i hate living here. #BlackLivesMatter just thought to shed some light on this country
