Videos of black oppression is triggering for me. It takes me back to life as a child in apartheid Namibia...
- Being 1 of 2 black kids in my class & being subjected to racism from Afrikaner kids everyday.

- Being forced to learn Afrikaans, the tongue of the oppressor, in school.
- Being denied access to the ‘whites only’ changing rooms at Gross Barmen Hot Springs Resort.

- Having to stay at a guest house for blacks at Walvis Bay while on holiday because the nicer hotels didn’t want black customers.
- Getting kicked out of our first class seats by white air hostesses on a long-haul SAA flight & forced to sit in economy because we were black.
- Sitting in church & seeing remains of prison-like bars that were used to separate the white section from the black one (in church!).
- Almost getting lynched in our car with my mum and brother because mum ran over our white neighbour’s cat by mistake.
The list is endless but my own experiences are nothing compared to others who have literally died.
The white race is responsible for hundreds of years of oppression of black & brown peoples: That’s a fact.
It cannot be ok for racism to be an acceptable thing in 2020.
It Cannot.
