There is no line between what is pastoral and what is prophetic. Because the people we serve can never feel spiritual peace while human community is broken, and alienated from the rest of creation.

Part of the restlessness we feel is injustice. Part of what makes it hard to feel God’s love is our own guilty consciences. The longing that we feel is for peace with justice, a restored earth.

Teaching our congregations how to repent of the evil in the world, to be transformed by the Spirit, and to work as the Body of Christ for the good of the world is pastoral care.
