Dear white people participating in the protests,

Here are some rules from a Black person that both participated in dozens of protests since 2010.

1. Don’t fucking touch a bullhorn. Don’t even think about it. No you absolutely should not be leading chants

2. Do not take it upon yourself to incite the cops . I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen a white man absolutely yelling with spit in cops faces while the Black people were more reserved. Follow the lead of the Black people at the protest.

When those cops get angry & tired of your yelling they absolutely will take it out on the Black protestors & organizers.

3. If & when Black people do decide that they want to turn up, you are allowed to turn up with us but your goal should be helping Blacks. If Black ppl are looting, help them don’t go tryna take TVs yourself. Refer back to the previous tweet.

4. Maybe the most important rule here. You are here as a privileged ally. Use your privilege & your body to protect Black protestors. If the cops are moving in put your body between them & the Black protestors. They are less likely to get violent.
