In 1985, Claremont and Nocenti edited a single issue X-Men “comics jam” called “Heroes for Hope” in support of African famine relief. #xmen 1/5
Claremont recruited the writers, including Stephen King, George RR Martin, Alan Moore, Harlan Ellison, Denny O’Neil, Steve Englehart, and Stan Lee himself, with each responsible for 1-3 pages of the story. 2/5
For interior art, the book featured Bernie Wrightson, Charles Vess, Brian Bolland, Frank Miller, Bill Sienkiewicz, John Bolton, Walt Simonson, Richard Corben, and even a reunion with John Byrne. The cover was drawn by Arthur Adams and features a now-iconic depiction of Logan. 3/5
While the story itself was unremarkable (and presumably hard to republish due to the creative team involved), the intent was noble, and the experiment produced what is easily the largest talent pool ever collected in a single X-Men story. 4/5
"The Real Gentlemen of Leisure" put together an excellent account of this issue in full if you'd like more info on it 5/5: https://www.therealgentlemenofleisure.com/2013/07/x-amining-x-men-heroes-for-hope.html
