I've followed Skyrim grandma for some time. I saw her video before the article, the impression I got was there had been SOME patronising comments, and she was scaling back the role playing videos because competitive gamers were being cry babies. The gist was she was just . . . .
. . Getting it off her chest, and move on, as the stress of the situation was addingn to her health. Shirley is an old lady, they don't need stress. The article amplified an issue she was already more than done with, and added further drama for a lady who was done with drama . .
Shirleys videos help me sleep at night. She is a creator who promotes friendship, calm and sharing interests. She doesn't do drama or silliness she just plays skyrim. The reporter misunderstood and misrepresented what she had to say . . .
Gamer gate isn't relevant here and certainly not the business of an OAP who just wants to play skyrim. Whilst we are here, the skyrim community can be toxic and judgey, and journos need to remember some ethics before sensationalising this and think of her damn health.
