The first time the word Moor was used was to describe the Mauri, inhabitants of Mauretania Tingitana & Mauretania Caesariensis(modern day 🇲🇦🇩🇿)

The Mauri were Berbers who played a role in Roman history, and reconstructions indicate they most definitely look like modern Maghrebis
Afrocentrists rely on Orientalist paintings made in the 19th century during a time where colonialism was at an all time high along with its racist depictions of the “other”. Most paintings are not indicative of any real historical figure.

There is no verifiable Black Moorish King name you can provide, but take Morocco for example, our rulers were always depicted as white / fair skinned.

Here’s Abu Hafs Al Murtada for an example among many. (Berber Almohad Emperor, 13th century)
Africa is a diverse continent. Not all indigenous Africans are black.
Asians are not the same phenotype either, yet such theories don’t exist on their continent.

Subsaharan Africa has plenty of history & culture to be proud of, but up North we ask that our heritage be respected.
