Let me tell you a story of why I am standing up for jurors and their safety.
Did a trial at one of my local courts.
3/4 of the way through, there was a lady who seemed distressed.
The usher was sent to check on her in a break.
Her husband had died the night before 1/?
He had been ill for some time. But still she turned up and still she sat because she didn’t want to make a fuss and wanted to do her duty.
She sat there in silent grief.

Let that sink in.
Point is jurors feel the weight of their duty on a personal level and they are repeatedly warned that failure to comply may result in a fine of up to £1000.
I and others may choose to do the job/go to court but jurors are not there by their choosing.

We have to ensure that they feel safe and able to ask about the measures or to consider whether if it’s in the best interests of their families to do it at the current time.
