• the bakunawa is also fearfully known as "the devourer of the seven moons" and there is a reason as to why.

• the filipino myth of the bakunawa revolves around the fact that-

the bakunawa fell in love with the moon the very moment he saw it. due to this, his greatest desire is to keep the moon for himself by swallowing it whole, causing the world to be filled with nothing but darkness from then on.

thankfully, however, the bakunawa was never-

successful in his attempts at taking the moon and it was all because of the loud noises that the filipinos would produced using their kitchen utensils and instruments. it was the only way to scare the bakunawa away and it worked everytime.

• the myth was originally written to-

explain the different phases of the moon. like picture the waxing crescent. you know it shows only a bit of the full moon? in the myth, that is basically showing that the bakunawa is in progress of eating the moon. the remaining part of the crescent is the part that the bakunawa-

has left to put into his mouth. on the other than, the darkened part of the crescent is the bakunawa's jaws half way into eating the moon.

• now! how this au works: basically michael is half-bakunawa and half-human !! he can willingly shift from his human form to his hybrid form which looks like the art i posted at the top of this thread!

• the bakunawa has never really hurt people. he only ever tries stealing-

the moon and doesn't do anything beyond that. in fact, the bakunawa is a pretty gentle creature and is known to enjoy sleeping a lot, especially to music.

• like the bakunawa, michael is always longing for the sea. he takes a shower for hours on end and is constantly seen-

staring out the window with a blank expression. the longing he has for it is painful, honestly. it physically makes his heart squeeze and it hurts even more when he can't do anything about it.

• at night, michael longs not only for the sea but the moon as well. you would-

often see him looking for it when it starts getting dark. and as soon as the moon shows up, he will be staring at it all night a while painfully aching with his desire to take it.

• he often mistakes his love interests for the moon and would get very possessive and-

affectionate with them. he is going to be so very clingy, trust me. he will call you "akine buwan" (my moon) most of the time.

• michael!! hates!! loud noises!! or just lots of noise in general. it is how to scare a bakunawa after all so it is enough to trigger him into a-

panic attack.

• michael gets very sleepy at night and it: sucks.

• he is also able to stay underwater for a very, very, very long time. he can stay there forever if he could.
