I read a tweet about raising women to fight for their vaginas. Make them mini assasins. Wonder women. The bio of the person who wrote it says they believe in human rights feminism.

To say I'm disgusted is in understatement.

The idea that women should fight of rapists is violent for many reasons. What about babies? And grandmothers? What about differently abled women? What about when you're drunk? Or when you're just tired?

What about when the rapist is your friend? Or your father? Or your teacher? Or your boss? Or your brother? What about when you never expected it?

What about when you fought as hard as you could and you lost? And you're dead and buried now?

The idea that the responsibility lays with women to protect themselves from rapists is violent to not only survivors of sexual assault but excuses rapists.

It's a huge part of rape culture. It's played on the idea that rape has a face. A violent stranger in a bush, or breaking into your home. But rapists have many faces. And rape exists in many different ways. The only context that applies across is that someone didn't want it.

And someone else decided to do it anyway. We need to stop excusing that. We need to stop absolving rapists. That being said. I'm not engaging anyone on this thread. Thank you.
