something really rubs me the wrong way abt these white alt kids on tik tok lip syncing to 1312 by the casualties and stomping around at abandoned buildings or whatever... like do they know that isn’t activism? do they know all their ACAB posturing isn’t doing anything?

in the grand scheme of things i understand this isn’t a real issue that we need to mobilize against, but i did want to make this tweet 2 make all the White Kids In Question uncomfortable: being anti-cop means more than making choreographed tik toks in yr platforms + mouthing ACAB

it means examining the way u contribute to systemic oppression. the way u exhibit antiblackness. educating yrself on the prison industrial complex. recognizing the privilege u get bc of yr whiteness. understanding prison+police abolition. working to be actively antiracist.

it means listening to black people. stepping aside to let them speak and be heard. it means using your privilege and power as a white person to educate other white people. donating money and time to orgs and folks on the ground doing abolition work + protesting.

and i get it, none of the above things can be filmed + repurposed into a cool trendy tik tok where people can comment “omg YOU are the main character!!!!”. but what it does do is contribute to the demolition of a racist and oppressive society that is KILLING people.
