I take pride in calling my profile a safe space for all and that is why I advocate alongside poc in the #BlackLivesMatter movement. However, i can understand that not everybody is in the capacity to deal with the news regarding George Floyd. (1/6)
I can understand your silence if it is because you are affected by the situation and need to step back and away from social media. What i do not understand however is silence because u want to keep your account's "aesthetic" or detach from reality. (2/6)
Black people do not have the same privilege of getting to ignore this. This is a truth they have lived with for ages, an issue that's been here for eons, probably longer than I have been alive. And it's not fair for them to be discriminated all because of their skin. (3/6)
I for one cannot begin to truly understand what they're going through, and may never undergo the struggles they face because although I am poc, I am light skinned. But that fact will not stop me from recognizing the influence I have on this account. (4/6)
2000~ followers is a large amount, and if I can reach out to even a fraction of you guys, i think i am doing my part in showing support. They need us to stand with them more than ever now. They need to feel safe somewhere in a world that has been nothing but cruel. (5/6)
If the tweets ive been sharing bother you and cause u more stress, then feel free to mute me for the meantime. If you dont support the movement, go ahead and unf/soft block/block. But please understand that i will not stop making noise. (6/6)
Anyway, i'm gonna link this thread of petitions here because noise is just noise until it pushes us to perform actions. https://twitter.com/byersfilms/status/1265762726380539904?s=19
