The UK is the worst hit country in the world on a per capita basis. There have been 60k excess deaths so far.

There 50k excess deaths Dec-Mar 2017/18 according to ONS.

However that flu wave started in Nov & carried on into April.

The fatalities were among a similar demograph except more women and more children among the dead.

The NHS was completely swamped. Elective surgeries were cancelled.

Nobody batted an eye-lid. Nobody lamented not "locking down soon enough".

This was *three* years ago.
