Should we move on from Dominic Cummings? (No) Should he be sacked? (yes) Will it change anything (not much sadly) Here is my personal take.
We need to look at what will happen if he is sacked from this post.......

In New York in the 1930s there was a famous hotel which employed someone who was there solely to be sacked...
Let me explain....
If someone complained to the manager about the bedding or the towels or the soup - or the service in the bar....

The manager would send for Joe Sack in front of the annoyed customer, tell him off on the spot, and dismiss him.
Joe Sack would then leave the room, looking contrite - and go back to smoking a cig in the staff rest room and reading the paper, till the next time.

The point of this charade was to make the customer feel as if his complaint had been acted on, and, apparently, it worked like a treat.
And I am cynical enough to be certain that if Cummings is sacked, he will only be publicly sacked, and not removed from the corridors of power.

So - back to Cummings, if we accept that this is likely,
why is it particularly important that "justice is seen to be done" and the govt distance itself from the message in this case ...

Generally, I do not see any point (and never have) in calling for single sackings/ resignations.
There are plenty more of 'em out there- and over recent years people forced to resign or sacked have invariably been replaced with someone as bad or worse...

In cases where SPADs have been forced to go - it is nearly certain that they have, barely stopping to draw breath, continued to work for and advise the PM in question.
This happened under Labour too, but I am thinking of Nick Timothy / TMay...

So if we manage to get Mr Johnson to sack Dominic Cummings, it is possible that in reality, behind the scenes, not much will change ...
( am assuming that DC is actually working for BJ and can be sacked, for the purpose of this thread...)

...that DC will continue to do the job he is doing, perhaps officially working for someone else, or with another job title.
So, accepting that this is the case - should we put so much energy into officially getting him sacked?
I still think so, yes.

In this case the country needs to see what he did as wrong, there needs to be an official sacking, so that the #Covid19 regulations can, once again, be taken seriously.
Even if Cummings is sacked in the manner of *Joe Sack* - I feel it is vitally important it happens 10/ends
