I swear if I have to explain white privilege to another person my heads going to actually explode so here we go.
For those of you who still don’t believe white privilege is a thing, let me explain it to you in layman’s terms that you can comprehend.

Imagine going through the daily struggles that most human being has in a first world country experience in their life I.e education, employment, mental health, starting a family, raising your kids, relationships etc - all can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety yes?
Ok, now times that by 10. Because now imagine everytime you leave your house to go to the shop, you could get stopped by the police and searched because you’re black and fit a statistic or the generic description of a black man in his early 20s wearing a grey hoodie.
Now imagine, you go to uni and get a degree, apply for a job you’re more than qualified for and are unsuccessful at interview because you’re black and you don’t fit the ‘image that employer wants to portray’.
Or on the other hand, you apply for a job and there are people far more qualified and experienced for that role than you, but you get the job BECAUSE you’re Black because that companies statistics of BAME employees doesn’t meet the national requirements.
Now imagine, getting home from work on 25th May and seeing on the news that ANOTHER black man has died as a result of unjustified excessive force from a white US Police man for a bad check that wasn’t bad..
If you are white, you are STATISTICALLY less likely to get stop and searched, arrested or wrongly accused of a crime. You are also less likely to be discriminated against because of your skin colour and less likely to go to prison for the same crime as a white person.
It has been proven that the criminal justice system is discriminatory when it comes to ethnicity and gender - this is a fact. Not an opinion.
A black man who commits the same offence as a white man is likely to receive a harsher sentence for the SAME offence because he’s black.

I watched the video of George Floyd yesterday because I couldn’t bring myself to watch it before then, my mum was in the room with me and asked me to turn it off. I refused. I told her we should not have a choice because we’re white to ignore what happened to this man.
This is the point I’m making, as a white person I could choose to ignore and not comment on racism and the discrimination of black people because I’m white and I have that option.
If you’re a black person, you can’t just turn off the video because that shit happens all the time we just don’t always hear about it. If you’re black you’re constantly discriminated against and subject to racism even if people do it subconsciously and that happens every day.
So next time I hear ‘I’m not privileged because I’m white’ or ‘I’ve experienced racism too’ from a white person please refer to this thread because lord knows you’re full of shit, naive and/or ignorant and need educating
